Exactly right. I think the west will switch its overt commitment to “anti-eugenics” and to the blank slate as soon as embryo selection using polygenic scores — especially for mental traits — takes off in Asia.

A 2020 Pew poll showed that more than half of Indians would use gene editing to increase intelligence. That strongly suggests even more would use embryo selection for these purposes once it becomes cheaper and more powerful.
